The Russos are a lot like the families in their Manhattan neighborhood with one significant difference…they come from a long line of wizards and now, the three teens in the house – Justin, Alex and Max – must learn to hone their budding magical powers or soon risk losing them. Jerry and Theresa Russo have their hands full running the family-owned sandwich shop, Waverly Sub Station, and managing a house full of often squabbling teens experiencing the trials and tribulations of adolescence. Add to the mix daily wizard training in a secret lair at home and life gets truly unpredictable. Long ago, Jerry Russo relinquished his wizard powers to marry his mere mortal wife, Theresa, but now their three kids each show signs they've inherited wizard powers. Although Jerry does his best to teach his kids the proper use of magic, and to practice only when supervised by him, comedic chaos ensues as they learn to manage their new skills, and break Jerry’s number one rule. While Jerry tutors the kids in wizardry and tries to keep one step ahead of them, Theresa encourages them to learn about her side of the family too and while she loves her kids, she won't stand for magic run amok.

WOWP S01E01: Your Can't Always Get What You Carpet

Alex learns to fly the family’s magic carpet after discovering that Dad has already previously taught Justin. After the two get in a big fight, Justin helps to repair things by secretly teaching his sister how to drive safely and Jerry finally recognizes that Daddy’s little girl is growing up.

Alex uses a spell to create her image to place in class while she skips wizard training to attend the Crazy 10 Minute Sale in order to buy the cool jacket that her rival Gigi is after. Meanwhile, Max has just received his new wand and inadvertently manipulates Alex’s actions through her 3-D image prompting her to make a fool of herself at the sale.

Alex uses wizardry to reverse the hands of time in order to spare Justin the embarrassing incidents leading up to his first kiss. Meanwhile, Jerry and Theresa try to recreate Max’s specialty sandwich “To The Max” which is under consideration to become the official sandwich of the New York Mets.

When Alex learns that there’s a magical resource to get information about any subject in the form of a “pocket elf,” she secretly uses one to pass a Spanish exam. Having passed the exam, Alex is allowed to go on a group date with her crush, Riley, however, Justin and Max have decided to seek revenge on their sister by causing the pocket elf to become rabid from eating chocolate and ruin her date.

WOWP S01E05: Pop Me and We Both Go Down

When Alex performs a spell in an attempt to vanish Justin’s new zit she instead brings it to life and Justin is stuck with it just before attending the school dance. At first the zit proves to be helpful by serving in a Cyrano capacity as Justin tries to impress his date Miranda but when it begins to insult people, Alex arrives in time to turn it back into a plain old zit on Justin’s forehead.

When Jerry’s fun loving wizard brother pays a visit, Alex vies to have him become her wizard trainer in lieu of her by the book dad. But after one too many magical mishaps, Alex learns to appreciate her dad’s wizardry expertise and ultimately, the kids discover that their father actually gave up his powers in order to marry their non magical mother.

When Harper is hired on at Waverly Sub Station Alex uses a spell to help her overcome her clumsiness. Jerry and Theresa recognize Harper’s awesome ability to carry ten plates at a time, etc and make her Alex’s new boss prompting friction between the two friends and Alex’s realization that her misuse of magic worked against her. Justin sets up a tutorial program in the Sub Station and is threatened by the local Wiz Kid whose business he’s stealing.

Alex buys Justin a pet beagle that’s really a magical dragon, to replace his dog that she accidentally lost years ago. However, when Theresa insists that Alex post signs for a lost dog, the kids’ are shocked when someone comes and claims it. When their magical dragon accidentally winds up in a local dog show the kids must find a way to get it back without revealing the family secret.

Alex and Harper have a falling out when Harper accepts an invitation to mean girl, Gigi’s annual tea party. When Alex discovers that Gigi invited Harper with the intention of embarrassing her, she decides to go to the tea herself and uses magic to teach Gigi a lesson in embarrassment. Justin and Max get into magical mischief by sending a phony help message in wizard mail.

When Alex uses an emotion potion to get a boy to like her, she accidentally takes the entire dose herself which results in her falling in love with herself. Justin tries to prevent her from bragging about her perfection in order to stop her head from growing too big, literally. Meanwhile, Max wakes up and discovers his powers.

Justin and Alex go to Wizard’s School where Justin quickly rises in the ranks of popularity due to his disciplined wizardry and Alex is looked upon as a bit of an outcast due to her non-chalant approach to magic. Max convinces Jerry to have a long overdue sleep over on their terrace where the two rough it until Theresa coaxes them inside.

When Alex gets wind of an evil professor’s plan to rob Justin of his wizard powers during the annual pongitch tournament, she puts her magic to good use to expose him and spare her brother from harm. Max goes head to head with a local merchant who’s trying to dissuade business by dressing up as a sandwich to promote the shop.

When Alex attempts to hang out with Justin’s older group of friends to see an R-rated movie, Justin tells her that she can’t go in and should wait with him in the arcade area until the movie is over. Ignoring her brother’s advice, Alex transports herself into the theater and winds up on the big screen in the movie! Justin uses magic to join his sister to fight off the scary villain.

Alex, Justin and Max learn that there’s another kid wizard in their midst, TJ Taylor, who is allowed to use his magic whenever he wants. Alex tries to convince Jerry that he’s too strict with his rules on magic but after TJ’s mischievous use of magic places everyone in jeopardy, Alex appreciates that her dad has set boundaries afterall.

Alex learns this and uses it as an opportunity to claim to be the catcher’s good luck charm. Amid the chaos, Professor Crumbs of Wiz Tech debates on whether or not to permanently remove Alex’s powers.

WOWP S01E20: Art Museum Piece

When Alex decides to take a short cut on her Art History assignment, she brings historical masterpieces to life such as the Mona Lisa, Blue Boy and even the Scream in order to answer the questions on her work sheet correctly. Ultimately she needs Justin to help her with the second half of the spell which replaces the art figures to their canvas’ by stating specific details. Meanwhile, Jerry and Max use a spell that allows the football they’re tossing around to pass right through things. When it accidentally lands in Theresa’s dinner soup, the spell works on Jerry, Max and Theresa too allowing them to play chase running right through the furniture.

Alex takes on an internship with a top Fashion Magazine and decides to put on an outrageous fashion show featuring Harper’s bizarre wear to teach her boss a lesson for taking credit for her ideas. Jerry and Theresa hire a new girl, Millie, at the Sub Station that Justin immediately falls in crush with so Max tries to help.
